BARI GETS THE GREEN LIGHT.

THE ITALIAN FA last night confirmed to the FAI that the World Cup qualifier between Italy and Ireland will be played in Bari on April 1.

As revealed by MirrorSport on Monday, Bari is the choice made by Italian football chiefs for the Group 8 showdown - a difficult venue to reach for the thousands of Ireland fans who will want to attend the big clash.

Under FIFA regulations, the Italian FA had until Monday to finally confirm their choice of venue.

But having informally notified their Irish counterparts of their decision yesterday having previously looked at Rome, Milan and Naples as options, the Italians told the FAI that Bari would definitely be the venue for the crucial fixture.
