BANKERS TRUST TO OPERATE 'CHILDREN'S SCHOOLHOUSE' UNTIL NEW YORK CITY SCHOOLS OPEN

NEW YORK, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Bankers Trust Company announced today that it will operate a "Children's Schoolhouse" at its Bankers Trust Plaza building beginning Monday, Sept. 13, and continuing until asbestos problems have been resolved and New York City schools are opened.
"This initiative is being taken as part of our Global Employer of Choice program, which assists employees with problems associated with balancing work and family issues in an urban environment," said Mark Bieler, managing director and head of Human Resources at Bankers Trust.
The Children's Schoolhouse will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. to serve 40 students in grades kindergarten through sixth. In the likelihood that requests to attend will be greater than can be accommodated in limited space, participants will be selected by lottery from among applicants.
The Children's Schoolhouse has been approved by New York City as a temporary facility for school-aged care. Its educational program will be conducted by Children's First, Inc., which also operates Bankers Trust's child-care center at its Harborside offices in Jersey City and will manage the child-care center currently under construction at the BT Plaza building.
