BANKERS TRUST NAMES NEW HEAD OF U.S. ACTIVE EQUITY MANAGEMENT BUSINESS

 NEW YORK, May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Bankers Trust Company today announced the appointment of Paul W. Higgins, managing director, as head of the U.S. Active Equity management team following the departure of William J. Newman.
 "We have an excellent active equity team in place with a proven long-term track record," said H. Kent Atkins, chief investment officer and head of the Global Assets-Investment Management Group. "Bankers Trust's equity portfolio managers average 15 years equity investment experience. Paul will bring a wealth of experience to his role as manager of the group, and his team approach is consistent with Bankers Trust's philosophy."
 Mr. Higgins has 25 years of investment management experience, including over 20 years at Bankers Trust, where he has served as chief investment officer of the Private Bank. He will continue to be responsible for overseeing the investment management of the Private Bank's assets. Mr. Higgins will work closely with Mr. Atkins and Win J. Neuger, managing director of Active Management.
 Mr. Higgins is a graduate of Harvard College.
 Bankers Trust's Global Assets-Investment Management Group currently manages over $7 billion in small, mid and large capitalization active equity portfolios for individual investors and institutional investors.
