              BANKERS TRUST FORMS EUROPEAN ADVISORY BOARD
    NEW YORK, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Bankers Trust Company has formed a


European Advisory Board, a major step in the implementation of a business strategy that anticipates the development of a single global marketplace during the decade of the 90s, the company announced today.
    Anthony J.F. O'Reilly, chairman and chief executive officer of H.J. Heinz Company, is chairman of the 13-member board, which also includes Bankers Trust Chairman Charles S. Sanford, Jr.
    The other members are Sir Peter Baxendell, director, the Shell Petroleum Company Ltd., U.K.; Pieter Bouw, managing director and president, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines; Juan Antonio Garcia Diez, chairman, Uralita S.A., Spain; Alberto Falck, chairman, Acciaierie e Ferriere Lombarde Falck S.p.A., Italy; Kjell-Olof Feldt, chairman, S.J. Swedish State Railways and former Swedish Minister of Finance; Chryss O'Reilly, a private investor with interests in shipping, real estate and insurance; Manfred Lahnstein, member of the executive board, Bertelsmann Corporation and former German Minister of Finance; Walter F. Mondale, law partner, Dorsey & Whitney and former vice president of the United States; Didier Pineau-Valencienne, chairman and chief executive officer, Schneider S.A., France; David de Pury, chairman-elect, BBC Brown Boveri, Switzerland, and Takeo Shiina, president and chief executive officer, IBM Japan, Ltd.
    The board will consider major issues affecting Bankers Trust in Europe and advise the bank in the implementation of its strategy.

    With London as its European base, Bankers Trust has offices and subsidiaries in Budapest, Frankfurt, Geneva, Istanbul, Luxembourg, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Prague, Warsaw and Zurich.  The bank recently strengthened its senior management team in Europe by recruiting senior local business people to head its merchant banking businesses in France, Italy and Spain.
