BANKERS TRUST CREATES NEW UNIT

 NEW YORK, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Bankers Trust New York Corporation (NYSE: BT) today announced it has created a new unit within its Financial Services organization called the Global Investment Bank. The unit combines the firm's Global Capital Markets and Global Finance businesses, formerly managed by President Eugene B. Shanks Jr., with the European Merchant Bank and the U.S. Client Advisory Group, formerly managed by Vice Chairman George J. Vojta. Brian Walsh, Yves de Balmann and Rodney McLauchlan, each a managing director, will jointly manage the Global Investment Bank, reporting to Mr. Shanks and Mr. Vojta.
 The Global Investment Bank brings within a single unit the Financial Services organization's client base in developed countries, with its full range of advisory, financing and derivative product capabilities.
 Mr. Shanks will continue to be responsible for Bankers Trust's global proprietary businesses, comprised of Global Trading and the Global Portfolio Group, as well as Bankers Trust Australia.
 Mr. Vojta will continue to head global emerging markets, which encompasses Asia Merchant Banking, Latin America Merchant Banking and the Middle East and Africa, as well as Real Estate Finance and Principal Investing.
 The creation of the Global Investment Bank will enable Bankers Trust to bring more effectively its full range of financing and risk management product and advisory capabilities to its corporate, financial institution and investor clients. These include the underwriting of public debt and equity; private placements; structured financing; asset finance; interest rate, currency, equity, commodity and credit derivative products; as well as an expanding range of advisory services that assist clients in the management of strategic risk.
