 NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF URBAN BANKS (NAUB) AGREE TO MERGER
 RALEIGH, N.C., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Banker's Educational Society, Inc. (BESI), North Carolina's only minority banking association, established in 1976, has agreed to merge with the National Association of Urban Bankers (NAUB), the nation's largest minority banking association.
 Banker's Education Society, Inc. was found by minority managers as a forum for the exchange of ideas, education of its bankers, and to educate the minority community on banking services. Ray Rogers, President and CEO of Banking Education Society, Inc., and Shalley A. Jones, President of NAUB, agreed to the merger after the Board of Directors for BESI and NAUB approved the merger at NAUB's National Conference in Birmingham, Alabama.
 "This merger of these two banking associations will allow the continued education of our minority bankers that would enhance their efforts to improve the quality of life in the communities in which they work and live," Rogers said, who is now President of the newly formed statewide organization.
 The new association in North Carolina, now named the North Carolina Association of Urban Bankers Chapter/Bankers Education Society, Inc. NCAUB/BESI), will have four districts in North Carolina. The districts are the Eastern, Located in Fayetteville; Triangle, located in Raleigh/Durham; Central, located in Winston-Salem; and the Southern District, located in Charlotte. Each district has a District Vice President that will be responsible for implementing NCAUB/BESI's programs in that district. Officers of the new organization are:

 The National Association of Urban Bankers (NAUB) is a non-profit organization of minority professionals in the financial service industry and related fields. NAUB exists to nurture professional relationships and communicate information. The association's goal's are to:
 -- Bring together minority professionals in the financial services industry for the mutual exchange of experiences, ideas, and interests in order to help promote career and professional development.
 -- Provide educational and technical assistance for minorities working in the industry.
