BANKATLANTIC TO MARK ITS 40TH ANNIVERSARY AND
ANNOUNCE FIRST QUARTER RESULTS ON TUESDAY, APRIL 28
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- BankAtlantic (NASDAQ-NMS: ASAL) announces the celebration of its 40th anniversary at a special meeting on Tuesday, April 28 for BankAtlantic officers, local dignitaries and members of the press. In conjunction with this 40th anniversary celebration, BankAtlantic will announce at the meeting financial results for the three months ended March 31, 1992.
"Earlier this year BankAtlantic had estimated first quarter 1992 earnings of $600,000 or nine cents per share. Based on preliminary numbers for the first quarter, we expect to meet or exceed our original estimate for the first quarter. Also, BankAtlantic had estimated a profit of approximately $3.1 million, or 55 cents per share, for the 12 months ending Dec. 31, 1992," said BankAtlantic Chairman Alan B. Levan.
To further mark BankAtlantic's 40th anniversary of operations in Fort Lauderdale, Fort Lauderdale Vice Mayor Jack Latona and Commissioner Cary Keno will present BankAtlantic's chairman and Alan B. Levan and President John P. O'Neill with an official proclamation declaring April 28, 1992 to be "BankAtlantic Day" in Fort Lauderdale. In addition to BankAtlantic officers and local dignitaries, members of the press are invited to attend the presentation, which begins at 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 28 at the Cinema 'n' Drafthouse Theater, 1455 S.E. 17th St., Fort Lauderdale.
In April 1952, BankAtlantic opened its first office at 232 South Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale. From its modest beginnings as a locally owned, one office institution with assets of $276,000, BankAtlantic today lists assets of $1.5 billion, more than 600 employees, and 31 banking offices in Broward, Palm Beach and Dade counties. "As BankAtlantic prepares to mark its 40th year of business, we are proud that it has evolved into a modern, full service, customer-driven banking institution. We are equally proud that in an age when large, impersonal mega-regional banks dominate Florida, BankAtlantic has for 40 years retained its identity as a South Florida based and managed financial institution," Levan commented.
At the meeting BankAtlantic will also honor Fort Lauderdale resident Roger Staley and his daughter, Allyson Samiljan, for maintaining the longest ongoing account relationship on record at BankAtlantic. Staley opened a passbook savings account for his daughter in April 1952.
Members of the media wishing to attend the meeting to mark BankAtlantic's 40th anniversary and announcement of first quarter results are requested to contact in advance Sharon Stennett, BankAtlantic Corporate Communications Department, at 305-760-5402. Media are also invited to take advantage of photo opportunities at the meeting. For convenience to the press, all public portions of the meeting will be held between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
