BANK ONE INTRODUCES TELEPHONE BILL PAYING SERVICE
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Bank One, Columbus, NA

announced today that it has introduced a new telephone bill payment service for residents in the greater Columbus area. The telephone bill payment service has been designed so that everyone with a checking account at any financial institution can use the program, even if the person is not a customer of Bank One. All transactions will be provided on a separate monthly statement which will also permit customers to categorize payments for budgeting purposes, which will be included on each monthly statement. Fees for the service will be $5.95 a month for 10 transactions, and $2.95 for each additional group of 10 transactions.
Michael J. McMennamin, chairman of Bank One, Columbus said, "We recently introduced Bank One, OnLine, a home banking service for customers who have personal computers. We are introducing this additonal telephone bill payment service for customers who would rather not buy additonal equipment and use their current touchtone phone to handle bill payment needs." McMennamin continued, "We want to make it as easy as possible for anyone to bank with us. This is just another example of doing whatever it takes to provide the best banking services possible in Columbus."
Bank One's telephone bill payment service is being offered in conjunction with CheckFree, located in Columbus, Ohio. CheckFree is one of the nation's largest electronic payment processors for business and consumers, which has been offering consumer bill payment and other electronic transaction services on a national basis for the last 10 years.
