BANK'S "MOVERS AND SHAKERS" CAMPAIGN LEADS TO $5,000 CASH PRIZE

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla., Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Richard Duer is not the kind of person who lets the grass grow under his feet.
So when he learned of First Union's "Movers and Shakers Holiday Sweepstakes" contest encouraging customers to turn in the names of friends and family "on the move", he submitted his own name. After all, the First Union customer was moving from Maitland to Boynton Beach, Florida.
For his efforts, on February 10, Duer will be awarded $5,000 for submitting his own name, which was drawn in the sweepstakes.
First Union's Interstate Relocation Services Department provides incentives to branch personnel, real estate agents and others whose tips help First Union retain existing customers and attract newcomers.
First Union Interstate Relocation Services has helped customers find wedding chapels in their new town, arranged for puppy sitters for their dogs and has even met them at the airport as they begin house hunting.
The contest has been another way to generate interest and enthusiasm among First Union customers and employees, while helping First Union reach out to new residents.
First Union Interstate Relocation Service allows potential customers to open checking and savings accounts by phone, and the bank makes sure the first box of printed checks is waiting for the customer at his or her new branch. First Union is the only bank that allows customers to transfer funds electronically from their old account into a new one free of charge.
Other First Union relocation services include pre-qualification counseling to make home-buying easier, reservations for safe deposit boxes and help in finding the nearest doctors, the most convenient day care, the most enjoyable restaurants in town and other services.
The presentation to Duer will be made at First Union's Boynton Beach Branch, 200 North Congress Avenue on Wednesday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m.
