BANDAG REPORTS SALES AND EARNINGS FOR THIRD QUARTER 1993

 MUSCATINE, Iowa, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Bandag, Incorporated (NYSE: BDG) today reported consolidated net sales of $154,300,000 for the third quarter of 1993. This compares to $154,314,000 in the third quarter of 1992. Net earnings for the third quarter of 1993 were $22,547,000 compared to $22,401,000 a year ago, while earnings per share of $.83 were 2 percent above last year's $.81.
 For the nine months, consolidated net sales were $429,842,000 compared to $430,519,000 in the prior year. Net earnings were $55,711,000 compared to $60,367,000 in the prior year, and earnings per share were $2.04 compared to $2.17 a year ago.
 Bandag, Incorporated manufactures retreading materials and equipment for its worldwide network of over 1,200 independent, franchised dealers who produce and market cold process retreads.
