BANCTEXAS COMMENTS ON UNUSUAL STOCK TRADING VOLUME

DALLAS, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- BancTEXAS Group Inc. (NYSE: BTX) ("BTX"), a Texas bank holding company whose stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange, said there are no internal corporate developments which would explain the higher than normal trading volume which has occurred in BTX common stock yesterday and today. Rather, BTX has learned that the recipient of the largest block of BTX stock in the acquisition of First Bank/Las Colinas which was completed in December of 1992 has just sold its position (approximately 425,000 shares.)
