 BANCTEC NAMES NEW CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
 DALLAS, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- BancTec, Inc. (NASDAQ: BTEC) has


appointed Gary T. Robinson, vice president and corporate controller, to the additional position of chief financial officer, succeeding G. Wesley Mayland. Mayland, 55 years old, has elected to accept early retirement under a program recently offered by the company.
 Robinson, 45, who has been with the company since 1985, will assume his new responsibilities on Jan. 1, 1992, Mayland, who has been the company's chief financial officer since 1984, will remain with BancTec through a transition period ending June 30, 1992 to complete a number of business development projects and assist in the transfer of responsibilities to Robinson. Thereafter, he intends to remain active in the business community.
 BancTec, Inc. provides computerized systems for processing financial transactions, including checks, remittance advices, sales drafts and giro documents. BancTec designs, manufactures, markets and services products that employ optical character recognition, magnetic ink character recognition and image processing technologies to read, digitize, encode, sort and print financial documents. In addition, BancTec is a leading nationwide provider of third-party maintenance and technical support for local area networks.
