 BANCTEC ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL IMAGEFIRST SALE
 AND MAJOR THIRD PARTY SERVICE AGREEMENT
 DALLAS, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- BancTec, Inc. (NASDAQ: BTEC) announced that is has received a $3.7 million ImageFIRST(R) 5500 document processing systems order from a European communications company and a $2.3 million annual third party service agreement from Martin Marietta Information Systems.
 The communications company will equip its two European centers with a total of four 5500 ImageFIRST transports configured with image capture and power encoder modules to enable remittance advice and check items to be captured, keyed and encoded. The use of Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR) of the courtesy amount from the checks has also been configured as a future upgrade option for the ImageFIRST systems selected.
 Martin Marietta Information Systems of Orlando, Fla., a national systems integrator, has awarded BancTec a contract to provide full third party service and support for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) national network computer system. Martin Marietta Information Systems is responsible for integrating HUD's 15,000 PCs across the United States. The contract is to provide on-site service support with full-time field service technicians for on-call support to HUD with guaranteed response time of four hours.
