BANCOMER AND CITICORP REACH EXCLUSIVE TRAVELERS CHEQUE AGREEMENT

BANCOMER AND CITICORP REACH EXCLUSIVE TRAVELERS CHEQUE AGREEMENT
CHICAGO, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Citicorp (NYSE: CCI) today announced an exclusive agreement with Bancomer S.A., one of the largest banks in Latin America, to sell Visa Travelers Cheques.
The agreement is for a three-year commitment to exclusively sell Visa Travelers Cheques issued by Citicorp rather than the standard practice of sharing a travelers cheque business relationship between two or three issuers. The agreement is credited to strong relationships developed between Bancomer and Citicorp over the past six years through outstanding service provided by the Citicorp organization.
Bancomer boasts assets of $30.8 billion and a network of over 760 branches in Mexico, as well as offices in the major money centers of the world. It is the number-one provider of consumer banking services in Mexico and a top issuer of credit cards under the Visa brand.
Citicorp holds a strong leadership position in the travelers cheques industry in Latin America and is the leading issuer in Brazil, Venezuela and Mexico. To support its travelers cheque business in Latin America and the Caribbean, Citicorp maintains sales and customer service centers in 22 countries throughout the region. These offices coordinate sales promotion and provide customer service in conjunction with Citicorp's worldwide Travelers Cheques operations center based in Tampa, Fla. Additionally, Visa Travelers Cheques provides a network of over 350,000 refund locations in more than 170 countries.
Citicorp and Visa Travelers Cheques are serviced and marketed by Global Cash Management Services, a U.S. based unit of Citicorp, offering a full spectrum of premier payment services with worldwide acceptance.
