BALTIMORE SCHOOL SYSTEM & FOOT LOCKER TO INITIATE UNIQUE NATIONAL 'STAY IN SCHOOL' CONTEST

BALTIMORE SCHOOL SYSTEM & FOOT LOCKER TO INITIATE UNIQUE NATIONAL
 'STAY IN SCHOOL' CONTEST
The Baltimore City Schools, in collaboration with the athletic retailer Foot Locker, is presenting a press conference/assembly program, Thursday, March 19, 9:30 a.m., at Mt. Royal Middle School, 121 McMechen St., 410-396-0864, to announce the details of a new national campaign titled the "Foot Locker Cool School Video Program."
The national contest will enable middle and junior high students to create and produce their own videos with the "STAY IN SCHOOL" theme. After successful programs in Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Portland, Ore., Miami, Minneapolis and Washington, the program will now be implemented in six more major cities across the country. The campaign will run for approximately six weeks as each school competes for their city's top prize: a pair of K-Swiss athletic shoes for every student from the school producing the winning video.
Joining Foot Locker representatives to announce the details of the program is Washington Redskin star Earnest Byner, who is the honorary chairman of the campaign. Byner will talk to the students about the importance of staying in school as well as appear in posters promoting the program. He will also return to the winning school in Baltimore and personally present the students with their free athletic shoes.
"Baltimore is a great place to kick off our second year's program as we know the kids here will set a fine example for students everywhere," said Tim Finn, vice president, general manager, Foot Locker. "We are also very lucky to have Earnest Byner helping us get out this very important message."
The contest videos will be judged according to their creativity, content and unique nature as well as the positive effect they'll have on their student peers.
