BALLISTIVET IMPLEMENTS NEW VETERINARIAN-BASED MARKETING STRATEGY
MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- BallistiVet, Inc. (NASDAQ: BVET) announced today that, as part of its new strategic marketing plan, it has signed ethical distribution agreements with three major distributors of animal health products to veterinarians. This establishes national distribution and opens up the Midwest market of eight million feeder cattle.
 Named as distributors were:
-- Western Veterinary Supply, Porterville, Calif., a subsidiary of WALCO International. Western has eight branch offices nationwide and a sales force of 56.
-- Midwest Veterinary Supply, Burnsville, Minn., with four branch offices in the midwest and a sales force of 27.
-- Nelson Laboratories, Sioux Falls, S.D., with warehousing in Sioux Falls and a sales force of 11.
"Our shift to ethical distribution puts our products directly in the hands of practicing veterinarians who are key in providing cost- effective sound veterinary practice to feed-lot operators, the primary users of BallistiVet's ballistic vaccine delivery system," said David Watrud, BallistiVet's CEO.
"Recent industry studies show that practicing veterinarians have an increasing role in the cattle feed lot business because they are best qualified to prescribe a vaccination program that ensures the quality and safety of beef. For this reason, our delivery system, which has been proven in the field to be more cost effective than the traditional syringe method of inoculation, is now being distributed to and by practicing veterinarians."
BallistiVet is a Minnesota-based company which manufactures and sells products for the cattle health care market, which approximates $1 billion in the U.S. The company's patented ballistic vaccine delivery system, which replaces traditional needle and syringe methods, allows inoculation of animals without restraint, from ranges up to 20 feet using an air powered rifle.
