BALL CORP. ENDS TALKS WITH KODAK
ON ACQUISITION OF IMAGE ACQUISITION BUSINESS
MUNCIE, Ind., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Ball Corporation (NYSE: BLL) said today it had ended discussions with Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE: EK) concerning possible acquisition of Kodak's image acquisition systems unit.
The two companies began discussion and due diligence in July, but were unable to reach agreement on several issues, the most important, according to Ball, being a purchase price.
"We adopted the economic value added concept last year for business investments and incentive compensation programs," said Delmont A. Davis, Ball's president and chief executive officer. "We were unable to reach agreement with Kodak on a purchase price that we felt would create value for our shareholders."
Ball Corporation manufactures metal and glass containers for the beverage and food industries and provides aerospace systems and professional services to government and commercial customers.
