BACKYARD ORGANIC GARDENING PRODUCT MAY BE REPLACEMENT FOR ALAR
CHARLESTON, S.C., Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- For 10 years, home gardeners have experienced significantly increased yields, healthier plants, and better tasting fruits and vegetables with Spray-N-Grow, an organic micronutrient complex that acts as a biocatalyst. Now commercial apple growers believe it may be a replacement for Alar, a plant growth regulator removed from the U.S. market by the FDA as a possible carcinogen.
"Pete Garza, a major Washington state apple grower, discovered Spray-N-Grow through his wife -- a backyard gardener," said Bill Muskopf, president, Spray-N-Grow. "Now, more than 100 apple growers in five states know what backyard gardeners have known for years -- Spray-N-Grow gets results."
Apple growers who treat their orchards with Spray-N-Grow get uniform darker red apples sooner than untreated trees. Spray-N-Grow also significantly increases the sugar content and pressures. It increases the amount of time apples can be held in storage as well. However, unlike Alar, Spray-N-Grow is completely organic and has been proven non-toxic.
Tests on other commercial crops such as grapes, and a variety of vegetables by A.E. Nightingale, Ph.D., professor emeritus, Texas A&M University, continue to reveal to commercial growers what home gardeners have known for years -- Spray-N-Grow increases yields from 25-185 percent and improves taste and color. Spray-N-Grow also helps plants develop a better root structure, enabling them to more effectively utilize soil nutrients and make them more stress-resistant. The product produces results in all types of vegetation (vegetables, blooming and non-blooming plants, fruits, nut and shade trees, lawns, and field crops) as long as normal moisture, light, and fertilizer are present.
"The wonderful thing about Spray-N-Grow is that it will produce outstanding results whether it is used in a family's flower garden or on their 1,000-acre apple orchard," said Muskopf.
Until recently, Spray-N-Grow had been sold mostly to home gardeners in eight-ounce bottles. To accommodate the growing demand for the product among commercial growers, Spray-N-Grow is now available in gallon containers.
Spray-N-Grow, marketed by a Rockport, Texas, company, was developed by a Texas chemist and is available to home gardeners and commercial growers by mail order.
