BACKCOUNTRY BIKING & HIKING TOURS FOR FIRST-TIME ADVENTURERS
AVAILABLE IN THE ROCKIES & UTAH'S CANYONLANDS
BOULDER, Colo., Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- First-time bikers and hikers can now discover the uniqueness of the Colorado, New Mexico and Utah backcountry. The inexperienced no longer needs to shy away from these naturally beautiful and rugged areas. Through extensive research and planning, Roads Less Traveled, a Boulder-based adventure travel company, has designed tours that all abilities can enjoy.
Journeying by foot or by mountain bike, participants travel inn-to- inn on an extensive network of unpaved backroads and forest trails. It is on these seldom traveled trails, far from the bustle of the main roads, that one can truly experience the West. Following the routes that were once those of the early prospectors and pioneers, one discovers remote ghost towns and high camps and it is not uncommon to sight elk, deer and bighorn sheep.
A new addition to their trip brochure for 1992 is a downhill biking excursion. Where else but in Colorado can one enjoy five days of almost pedal-free cycling as participants follow the downstream course of the Arkansas River. Highlights include a stay at a natural hot springs resort and 19th century bed & breakfasts.
Also featured this year are a number of trips which combine white water rafting, horseback riding, biking and hiking.
Roads Less Traveled provides all equipment, guides and van support. Bikers and hikers travel free of heavy packs and with the convenience of van support, friends and families with varying abilities can enjoy the same tour.
Trips are two to six days in length and run from March through November. Tours range from $235-$935 and include all accommodations and meals.
