BACHMAN TO MARKET NEW SOFTWARE TOOL FROM RAPID SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT
BURLINGTON, Mass., Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Bachman Information Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: BACH) today announced a marketing agreement with Rapid System Development Inc., of New York, N.Y.
Under terms of the agreement, BACHMAN(R) obtains the right to market RSD's new project work-management and methodology tool, HyperAnalyst(tm), through its North American sales channel. Rapid System Development will license and support the product.
HyperAnalyst is a new type of workstation-based software tool for project work-management and CASE tool methodology implementation. It combines several innovative facilities, including an expert system guide, a means for rapid project set-up, a tracking system for estimates and work status, the capability to launch workstation sessions, and a hypertext knowledgebase help feature.
HyperAnalyst incorporates the Rapid System Development Methodology, and also can be used with many other CASE methodologies, such as Information Engineering, Method/1, SDM/70, Stradis, and SSADM.
Each copy of HyperAnalyst is priced at $3,000, with a minimum of 10 copies required for the initial order; volume discounts are available. HyperAnalyst runs on a personal computer under the IBM OS/2 operating system, version 1.2 or later.
HyperAnalyst was developed by the three principals of Rapid System Development -- Chris Gane, Trish Sarson and Greg Grosh. Gane and Sarson are widely known in the software industry as co-authors of Structured Systems Analysis and the Gane-Sarson development methodology. Gane and Grosh are affiliated with BACHMAN, Gane as a principal consultant and Grosh as a domain expert.
Improving Productivity When Using the BACHMAN Tools
Used in conjunction with the BACHMAN tools, HyperAnalyst is designed to improve the administration and record-keeping aspects of application development, maintenance or re-engineering.
The HyperAnalyst tool can be used by all the members of a project team encompassing tasks at the Methodology or Project Administrator level as well as those of individual contributors at the database administration and system programming level. It incorporates extensive knowledge of system planning, modeling and development processes in order to help manage a wide range of development and re-engineering projects. This rule-based feature enhances productivity and the professional skills of the end-user.
Where a task involves the use of another software tool, such as a BACHMAN tool, word processor or spreadsheet, the user can load that tool into a separate window while using HyperAnalyst.
At the end of a session, the user updates the project records in order to reflect the new status of the project. Workgroup status is maintained with a shareable database at the server level, which also accommodates a facility for documenting meetings.
Rapid System Development specializes in system development methodologies and associated software.
