BACARDI IMPORTS TO PROVIDE 174,000 GALLONS OF FRESH WATER AS PART OF HURRICANE ANDREW RELIEF EFFORTS; 29 TRUCKS TO CARAVAN TO SOUTH FLORIDA
Bacardi Imports, Inc., based in Miami, today is sending a convoy of 29 trailer trucks carrying 174,000 gallons of fresh water to victims of Hurricane Andrew. The water is traveling from Bacardi's facilities in Jacksonville.
The free water will be distributed to relief sites throughout Dade County agencies coordinating relief efforts.
Bacardi Imports employs more than 150 people in South Florida, 15 of them residents of Andrew's hardest hit areas.
Bacardi, which already has two tanker trucks distributing free drinking water in the affected areas, will continue to bring water into the area for as long as the need for safe water exists.
Castleton Beverage Corporation, Bacardi's bottling facility for the U.S., obtained the water from Northern Florida.
