BAA receives 174 entries for cross country.

THE Bahrain Athletics Association (BAA) has so far received confirmation from 174 athletes of 16 countries who will participate in the Asian Cross Country scheduled for March 1 at the Equestrian and Horseracing Club premises in Sakhir.

The number of entries was announced after the BAA meeting, which was chaired by president Shaikh Talal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.

Shaikh Talal said registration is still open, adding that the last date to accept entries is January 31. The BAA chief said he is proud to have this opportunity of hosting such an international event.

He thanked the Equestrian and Horseracing Club for providing its premises for the championship. The club also hosted the Arab Cross Country held three years ago.

The BAA board also reviewed letters from overseas athletics federations, inviting Bahrain to participate in regional and international competitions this year. Among upcoming events are Al Farj International Championship in Tehran next month, the Junior Asian Games in Singapore in June as well as the Asian Indoor Games in Hanoi.
