B.A.T. ELECTRIC CAR FURTHERS ITS OWN WORLD DISTANCE RECORD TO 450 MILES FROM SAN FRANCISCO TO LOS ANGELES

Car on Display at WESCON '92, Nov. 17-19
ANAHEIM, Calif., Nov. 16 ~PRNewswire~ -- Joe Lastella, president

of B.A.T. International Inc. of Salt Lake City, broke his 406-mile Electric Car Distance Record on a single charge by traveling 450.2 miles from Stanford University to WESCON '92 at The Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim.
Lastella and his red '92 Geo Metro with 750 pounds of New Generation Batteries embarked at 7:03 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 15 from The Rodin Sculpture Garden at Stanford University, connected to highway 101 South through Salinas, Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, and Los Angeles, via I-5 to the WESCON '92 at Anaheim Convention Center arriving at 9:07 p.m. Stops along the way were made for support vehicles to refuel and certifying officials to eat and rest. The trip included four hours of nighttime driving through heavy Los Angeles traffic. Incredible at it may sound, this trip was made on less than $5 worth of electricity. His car is one of the most efficient cars in the world, using 165 watt hours per mile. These New Generation Batteries will be guaranteed for 75,000 to 100,000 miles at or below the Department of Energy targeted cost of $150~kw. Projected production dates depend on availability of funding.
B.A.T. International Inc. also plans to joint venture with some major manufacturer, second-generation lead acid battery with significantly higher energy densities than the present deep cycle car batteries.
