Azimuth Systems' ACE(TM) 400NB Recognized as Industry's Leading MIMO Channel Emulator.
ACTON, Mass. -- Azimuth Systems Inc., a leading wireless test equipment vendor, today announced that the company has received the 2007 Frost & Sullivan Product Innovation of the Year Award in the field of Wi-Fi Test & Measurement, in recognition of its innovative development of the ACE[TM] 400NB MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) channel emulator for testing Wi-Fi products. The Frost & Sullivan Product Innovation Award is presented each year to the company that has demonstrated excellence in new products and technologies within its field.
Azimuth brought the Wi-Fi industry's first fully automated MIMO channel emulator to market with the introduction of the ACE 400NB platform. The ACE features built-in support for the six real-time channel models recommended by the IEEE 802.11n working group for typical Wi-Fi scenarios, enabling referenceable performance comparisons. The revolutionary test system offers complete RF isolation and control to deliver fast, accurate and repeatable results for performance testing of wireless devices. The ACE 400NB addresses the complex needs of MIMO testing with an easy-to-use system, and is increasingly being used for SISO (single-input single-output) system performance evaluation as the platform can be used with both current 802.11a/b/g devices and future 802.11n devices.
"Azimuth Systems has continually developed products that address the growing need to more efficiently test mobile devices, and its innovation is applauded by Frost & Sullivan with this award," said Narendran Vaideeswaran, analyst with Frost & Sullivan. "An important reason the ACE system was chosen as a 2007 Product Innovation is its unique feature that allows vendors to measure the performance of products based on the not-yet-ratified 802.11n standard against real-world impairments, in a completely automated test solution."
Recognized for its superior performance, the ACE platform replaces time-consuming field tests that lack repeatability in multipath environments. Seven of the foremost Wi-Fi semiconductor vendors, along with leading hardware vendors and service providers, are currently using the ACE 400NB, making it the industry's most popular channel emulator.
"Azimuth's market success with the ACE validates the need for channel emulation as a mainstream tool for performance testing and debugging," said Jeff Abramowitz, vice president of marketing at Azimuth Systems. "Our MIMO test solutions represent significant technological achievements and we're excited to be recognized for both our vision and execution leadership by Frost & Sullivan."
The ACE 400NB is part of an award-winning portfolio of wireless solutions that addresses MIMO testing, including the MIMO Functional Test solution for performance and interoperability testing of draft 802.11n-based products. The MIMO Functional Test solution was recently named one of the 12 Best Wireless Products of 2006 by Wireless Net DesignLine, and has demonstrated the repeatability of its results in public tests such as the in-depth look at draft 802.11n products published in 2006 by Tom's Networking. In a related announcement last week, Azimuth also introduced the new ACE[TM] 400WB, a comprehensive channel emulator platform for testing MIMO-based WiMAX solutions.
