Azerbaijan : AZANS contracted INDRA for installation of new ATC centre in AZERBAIJANI CAPITAL BAKU.

Azerbaijani air navigation service provider AZANS has granted a contract to Indra for the installation of new air traffic control (ATC) centre in the nation s capital Baku.

Indra, one of the top global companies in the ATM market with rich experience of three decades, has so far installed more than 1,200 machines in 95 countries.

AZANS has stated that the new ATC centre will facilitate in the renovation of the Baku-based Heydar Aliyev International Airport into a regional center and augment its ability in the segment of passenger management.

Under the newly awarded contract, Indra will have to set up its automated air traffic management (ATM) system as well as SDC-2100 digital voice communications system in the airport. The company s system will support en route, approach and tower air controls.

The inclusion of the new network security facilities, including the ADS, CPDLC, P-RNAV, the automated ATM system of Indra will equip the airport to manage additional number of flights and assist safe traffic operation in synchronization with other centers.

The globally acclaimed company's voice communications system, which is based on the IP protocol (VoIP), is likely to lift the security standards of the airport.

Moreover, AZANS, in order to bolster the tourism business of Baku, is in preparation to construct two new runways and one more terminal at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. This facility is now witnessing the development of a new terminal of 58,000mA which will be completed in the next year. Upon its completion in 2013, the airport s annual passenger handling capacity is likely to be three million.

The new terminal is configured over two main floor levels, and it will have area for luggage retrieval, forward bussing lounges and baggage makeup amenities, over and above retail space.

Indra has experience in the installation of its ATM solutions in the countries of Eastern Europe including Poland, Ukraine, Turkey plus Lithuania and Bosnia and Herzegovina, in addition to India, Mongolia and China of Asia.

This contract is likely to reinforce Indra s position as one of the leading air traffic management technology providers in the globe.
