Ayr: Darley scores a three-timer.

Byline: Colin Russell

KEVIN DARLEY enjoyed a good day landing a 4-1 three-timer on Double Obsession, Montecristo and Fiddlers Creek, though he did have to share the spoils on the last-named who dead-heated with Patricia Philomena in the seller, writes Colin Russell.

Double Obsession landed some decent bets when taking the juvenile maiden, and scored nicely from Late Claim.

Although a drifter from 4-7 to 8-11 in the early betting, the colt was heavily backed late on and started a firm 4-6 shot after pounds 45,000 in major bets had been staked on him.

"He was still green. He ran wide on the turn as the horse on his inside came out a bit and he shied away from it. He's still not used to having other horses around him," said Deirdre Johnston, who was representing her husband Mark.

The winner has been entered for the Racing Post Trophy and should continue to progress.
