Axil Computer appoints new president.
He assumes the position previously held by Dr. C.S. Park, who has assumed responsibilities as president and CEO of Maxtor Corp.
Jeon, 46, comes to Axil from Maxtor Corp. where he was senior vice president of corporate strategic development and a member of Maxtor's board of directors. From 1974 to 1994 Jeon held executive positions with Hyundai Electronics Industries Co., Ltd. (HEI) and with Hyundai Electronics America Inc.
While at HEI in Seoul, Korea, Jeon was very involved in the decision to proceed with the establishment of Hyundai's Workstation Division which was later spun off to form Axil Computer Inc.
"My appointment as Axil's president is like a homecoming to me since I was involved in the formation of the Hyundai workstation business unit," said Jeon. "Hyundai has a strong presence in semi-conductor, storage device, ASIC and other technology-related activities in Korea. I have high confidence in Axil's computer business and I look forward to leveraging HEI's strengths and added value to execute Axil's business plan."
In his new position, Jeon will oversee the day-to-day management and direction of Axil. Park will continue as Axil's chairman of the board.
Jeon holds a B.S. and an M.S. in Business Administration and Economics from Seoul National University in Seoul. He is married and has two children.
