Axe to grind.

FRANCESCO GUIDOLIN couldn't resist a dig at Udinese after the Serie A side came crawling back to him last week.

The 54-year-old coach was axed after just one season in 1999 - despite leading the club to mid-table respectability.

After spells at Bologna, Palermo, Genoa, Monaco and Parma, he has now returned, but Guidolin was quick to rip into the club for sacking him in the first place.

He said: "My history with Udinese was interrupted by a colossal mistake. I left a part of my heart here."

That outburst might prove to a colossal mistake as well if he doesn't hit the ground running next term.
