Awareness walk held against drug abuse.

SUKKUR -- On the directives of Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, the department of economics, Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, on Saturday organized an 'Awareness Walk Against Drug Abuse'.

The walk was led by Chairman, department of economics, Professor Dr. Mohammad Saleem Rahpoto.

A large number of teachers and students participated in the walk with enthusiasm.

Speaking to the participants, Dr Rahpoto said that drug abuse is a menace, which results in massive moral degradation and societal disintegration.

He said that according to UNODC Survey Report, 'Drug Use in Pakistan 2013' there are 6.7 million addicts aged between 15-64 years in the country, which advocates an urgent need to immediately eradicate the evil.

He said that if you love your life you should 'Say No to Drugs', adding that this walk has been organized to create awareness among students about the menace of drugs.

He further said that it was the need of hour that government, NGOs, media and civil society should play their vital role to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society.
