Award of prizes.
The 107th Annual Award Ceremony was held on Monday, June 12, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., in the presence of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress.
The function was opened with an address by the President, in which he made a brief statement of each award.
The Medals and Prizes were presented to the following recipients:

Fumihiko TAKASAKI for "Studies of CP Violation in the B-Meson System"
Yasuhiko ARAKAWA for "Research on Quantum Dots and their Application in Photonic Devices"
Toshimitsu YOKOBORI for "The Research on the Fundamental Theories of Fatigue and Time-dependent Strength of Materials based on Meso-scale Dynamics and their Practical Applications"
Shigetou NAMBA for "Molecular Biological Study on the Phytoplasmas, Plant Pathogenic Bacteria"
Tatsushi TODA and Tamao ENDO for "Systematic Clinical, Biochemical, and Molecular Elucidation of Genetic Disorders due to Defective Synthesis of O-Mannose Type Sugar Chains, including Fukuyama-type Muscular Dystrophy, and Discovery of Sugar Chains of Novel Structures" (Joint Research)
Soichiro KITAMURA for "A New Arena in Cardiac Surgery: Pediatric Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery"
After this, congratulatory addresses were given by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. The function was closed at noon.
