Award of merit. (Educators Honored in New Orleans).

White Lily Flour Company, of Knoxville, Tenn., has been generously supporting students in southeastern high schools for three decades. The company, a subsidiary of C.H. Guenther & Son Inc., offers easy-to-follow cookbooks and coupons for free flour to schools within its marketing area--contributions that have helped family & consumer science programs stretch their food budgets and finance their food labs, which has made an especially big difference in low-economic school systems throughout the region. Teachers can also receive free videos and teaching kits from White Lily. The company sponsors 4-H breads programs and supports a number of other individual programs, from scholarships to gift baskets for school fairs and festivals.

The Charles Machine Works Inc., better known as Ditch Witch, has become a valuable partner to the educational system of its home state of Oklahoma. The company specializes in design and manufacture of high-quality underground construction equipment and offers internships and job shadowing to local students, some of whom later become full-time employees. The company recently partnered with area schools to create a promotional video featuring four of its skilled trade areas. Ditch Witch has been an active partner to the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education in developing the Work-Based Learning Toolbox for schools.
