Worldwide Computer Products News-3 August 2005-Avocent announces DSR1031 switch(C)1995-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Avocent Corporation (NASDAQ: AVCT), a supplier of connectivity solutions, announced on Tuesday (2 August) a new IT management solution designed for managing distributed IT resources in environments with little or no IT expertise, such as branch offices.

According to the company, its DSR1031 8-port digital KVM over IP switch enables administrators to access the site remotely in order to isolate and diagnose problems, and then the problems can either be repaired remotely or the right party can be dispatched to make the repairs.

In addition, the new solution features virtual media, which enables administrators to transfer data housed on a local computer to and from remote branch servers, as well as an optional Avocent SPC intelligent power control device, which allows technicians to remotely power devices on and off, the company claims.

No pricing details were disclosed.
