Aviation Week to launch "NetDefense" in January.

Aviation Week Group (AWG; Washington, D.C.), a division of The McGraw-Hill Cos. (New York), will begin the production of NetDefense, a weekly news and intelligence service for network-centric operations leaders and decision makers worldwide, in January 2004. An annual subscription to the new title will cost 3795. Content will be available weekly in print, on the Web, and via e-mail. A controlled "VIP" distribution, sponsored by Lockheed Martin, will include members of Congress, the Pentagon, the White House and the Department of Homeland Security.

AWG said the new title will provide a "common operational picture" of network-centric operations that government officials and industry professionals can rely on to develop and employ new and effective defense and security systems. Noting that the effectiveness of network-centric operations have been proven in action in Afghanistan and Iraq, AWG said the title will be the first news and information service to "take a total 360-degree view of network-centric operations," including warfighters, air, land, sea and space platforms, sensors, precision-strike weapons and the information technologies that link them together.

Editorial for NetDefense will cover current news, policy developments, programs and business opportunities for all defense and security applications of network-centric operations.
