Access to Microsoft Windows Source Code Further Enhances Speed and

Quality of Customer Implementations, Development of Solutions

Avanade Inc. today became one of the first systems integrators to be granted access to Microsoft Windows source code through a new program from Microsoft. The Microsoft Systems Integrator Source Licensing Program (SISLP) will give Avanade technologists access to Windows source code which will, in turn, allow them to design and deploy Windows-based solutions that are stronger, more secure, and more readily integrated into customers' existing systems.

Approximately 150 systems integrators worldwide qualify for SISLP, which includes source code access for Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows

.NET Server, and future releases of Windows. Avanade's early participation will enhance its ability to secure, manage, integrate, and improve the performance of customers' enterprise systems.

"To achieve the agility and flexibility required to keep pace with changing business requirements, enterprises need a reliable, scalable infrastructure," said Ashish Kumar, CTO of Avanade. "By deepening our expertise on Windows through this new program, Avanade can better plan, build, and run business-critical solutions on the Microsoft platform."

Increased access to Windows source code will not only impact Avanade's ability to deliver on infrastructure projects, which account for roughly half of Avanade's business, but will also enhance Avanade's delivery of .NET and Enterprise Collaboration solutions, by increasing Avanade's ability to integrate these solutions with customers' core infrastructure.

"By giving systems integrators the power to use Windows source code to customers' advantage, and by sharing source code responsibly with industry partners, we are acting to advance a healthy, integrated software ecosystem that is critical to the global economy," said Craig Mundie, senior vice president, chief technical officer of advanced strategies and policy at Microsoft Corp. "We are pleased to be able to launch this program with the participation and high-caliber contributions of Avanade."
