Automatic band saw. (Product Spotlight).

The KBR series of NC-controlled automatic band saws represents a "clean sheet" approach to design. The KBRs feature an advanced guidance system using linear guide technology similar to high-end machine tools. The double-column machines utilize bimetal or carbide-tipped sawbands to precisely cut solid materials as well as profiles, layers and bundles. The KBR's main drive and chip brush motor are frequency-regulated, doing away with the need for a mechanical regulator. Advantages include more power to the band, more precise control of band speed, less noise and friction and elimination of costly wear parts. Available in three sizes, the machines can run in semi-automatic and fully automatic operation. Kaltenbach Inc., Columbus, IN, or circle 153
