Austrian Airlines passenger count rises 4% Y/Y in Feb 2010.
(ADPnews) - Mar 9, 2010 - Austrian Airlines (AUA), a subsidiary of Deutsche Lufthansa (ETR:LHA), said on Tuesday it carried 645,700 passengers in February 2010, or 4% more than a year earlier.
The load factor of the flights climbed by 3.4 percentage points to 72% in annual terms. Capacity measured in available seat kilometres (ASK) was reduced by 3.1%, and revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) increased by 1.7%.
In January and February combined, 1,320,200 people flew with AUA, an increase of 3.9% compared with the same period of 2009. The load factor was 70.6%, up by four percentage points. The carrier reduced its ASK by 5.4% and its RPK inched up by 0.3%.
AUA executives Andreas Bierwirth and Peter Malanik commented that the passenger count was gradually improving but prices are still under pressure.
In February, AUA carried 510,400 passengers within Europe, up 8% on the year. In the intercontinental segment there were 109,300 passengers, which was 5.8% more than in February 2009. The number of passengers in the charter segment dropped by 42.3% to 26,000.
