Tenders are being called for $3.4 million of works to upgrade three State Government jetties. The projects include a $2.7 million refurbishment of the Henley Beach jetty - one of the most popular in South Australia.

The project will include installing a new shelter and stairs, replacing structural timbers and upgrading lighting. The Franklin Harbour jetty in Cowell will undergo $500,000 of maintenance works including driving new piles, replacing some deck timber and the design and installation of new stairs. A new shelter is also planned for the State Heritage-listed Semaphore jetty, subject to approval, as part of a $139,000 upgrade, as well as new seating and the replacement of some deck planks and other works.

The works are important to ensure the facilities remain accessible, operational, and support local communities and business.Works on the jetties will begin in the second quarter of next year and are scheduled to be completed before the 2018-19 summer season.
