Australia,United Arab Emirates : HLG Awarded AED 468 million (AUD 181 million) Contract for Construction of Fakeeh Academic Medical Centre (FAMC) in Dubai.

The Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) has been awarded a contract with Fakeeh Academic Medical Centre, FZCO, for the construction of the first phase of the Fakeeh Academic Medical Centre (FAMC) in Dubai. This is the first smart Hospital in UAE and the region. A state?of?the?art medical university is planned in the second phase.

HLG is 45 per cent owned by the CIMIC Group. HLG CEO and Managing Director, Jose A. Lopez?Monis, said the Group was proud Fakeeh Academic Medical Centre, FZCO, has selected HLG to produce leading?edge research and treatment facilities for the construction of the Fakeeh Academic Medical Centre. The contract has revenue of AED 468 million (AUD 181 million) and will be built at the integrated free zone park at Dubai Silicon Oasis in Dubai.

This prestigious medical facility will comprise five centres of excellence that specialise in diabetes and endocrinology, muscles, bones and joints, emergency medicine, pulmonary medicine and cardiology. It will offer robotic surgery and feature an automated medication dispensing system. The scope of works includes the construction of a 150?bed state?of?the?art smart hospital and the installation of the medical equipment and the loose furniture. It also includes the structural works, the architectural and civil works, the mechanical, plumbing and electrical works and the final testing, commissioning and cleaning. All the construction works will be performed in order to permit the building to achieve the LEED Silver Certificate. Mr Lopez?Monis said: This is an important award for the Group and an opportunity for HLG to deliver this distinctive and high?profile project to a significant client, Fakeeh Academic Medical Centre, FZCO. Mr Lopez?MonE[degrees]s said that HLG was pleased with the rapport established with Fakeeh Academic Medical Centre, FZCO, which he expects will continue into the future. Project works will commence immediately with completion expected in October 2017.
