Augsburger looks back to its roots.

Stroh Brewery Co.'s Augsburger family of beers will emphasize its heritage with new packaging designs that illustrate the brands' European legacy.

The packaging changes will give Augsburger Golden, Dark and Bock an "updated, contemporary look," said brand director Victor Dzenowagis.

"The packaging conversion includes an entirely new label and basket designed to be more eye-catching to our consumers while still preserving the great heritage of Augsburger," Dzenowagis added. "We are looking to attract more consumers who typically drink imports, other American super-premium beers or specialty beers from the microbreweries."

The packaging, created by Curtis Design of San Francisco, features a rendition of the authentic shield of Augsburg, Germany, the town after which the brand was named.

A double-headed eagle seal is the prominent design on the neck label. Additionally, the bock beer label features an illustration of a goat instead of an eagle that had been used in the past.
