Attunity Introduces Industry's First JCA-Based Framework for Application Integration; Attunity Connect 3.1 Maximizes Integration of Web and Mainframe Applications.

(NASDAQ:ATTU), a leader in eBusiness and B2B integration solutions, today announced more powerful application and data integration capabilities for Attunity Connect(TM), a solution widely used by companies around the globe to seamlessly unite web, mainframe, and legacy applications and data, as well as to leverage the back office for eBusiness initiatives.

Attunity Connect 3.1, which is available today, provides the industry's first Application Adapter Framework(TM) (Attunity AAF(TM)), which delivers a more intuitive and easier way to integrate diverse applications and data using industry-standard J2EE JCA (Java Connector Architecture) and XML interfaces. The Attunity AAF empowers IT teams to work with business objects at the application rather than the data model level.

Attunity Connect's AAF simplifies development of eBusiness and B2B solutions that need to integrate any kind of applications and data on 0S/400, 0S/390, Tandem, OpenVMS, UNIX, and other platforms using standard interfaces, including JCA, XML, JDBC, ODBC, SQL, and ADO/OLE DB. The framework is based on the new Attunity Connect Application Engine, which supports direct, efficient access to the complex data structures and transactions of legacy and enterprise applications. The Attunity Connect Application Engine augments Attunity Connect's production-proven Data Engine, which features Attunity's unique distributed Query Optimizer and Processor. These shared, multiplatform engines manage transactions across the IT infrastructure, integrating information from disparate systems through a single request.

Attunity Connect 3.1 also includes an Application Adapter SDK that enables developers to leverage existing application-specific business logic, to interact with applications at a higher level, and to trigger operational tasks. Application adapters developed with the SDK run consistently across diverse platforms.

In addition, Attunity Connect 3.1 includes a pure Java type-3 JDBC 2.0 provider that supports distributed transactions, connection pooling, data encryption, and connection recovery, which are ideal for use with any J2EE-based application server on any Java supporting platform. Attunity Connect 3.1 also includes further enhancements to the Data Engine's support for union capabilities, a comprehensive XML resources schema, additional data encryption schemes, and the ability to map XML documents to the relational model. Full national language support (NLS) allows global companies to deploy Attunity Connect-driven solutions in environments that require concurrent handling of multiple languages and character codes.

Ongoing improvements to existing database drivers such as ADABAS, Oracle Rdb, and Ingres II combine with the new IMS driver for IBM mainframes and native support for the AS/400 platform.
