Attack on UC Nazim in Peshawar foiled.

PESHAWAR, November 15, 2009 (Balochistan Times): At least three suspected militants were killed during an exchange of fire with a local lashkar in Bazid Khel area of Peshawar. The shootout took place after terrorists were about to attack the residence of Badabars UC nazim. The suspected militants refused to stop near the UC Nazims house which resulted in a gun battle with the Lashkar. The shootout left three militants dead. Police reached the spot and took the bodies into custody. Police claim that the militants belonged to a banned organization of Bara tehsil in Khyber Agency. Nazim Mohammad Fahim while talking to media men has said that three unidentified terrorists attacked on his guestroom early Sunday morning, however they were killed in counter-firing. Sources said more than a dozen militants opened fire on the house of an anti-Taliban local Nazim in Badaber area. Eyewitnesses say some of the militants disguised themselves by wearing Burqas. Nazim Mohammad Fahim Khan says Sundays attack was one of several made on his life. Khan has organized a militia to fight the Taliban in his town of Bazid Khel, some 15 kilometers south of Peshawar.
