Attachmate announces CROSSTALK for Macintosh 3.0; enhanced for POWERMAC and SYSTEM 7.5.

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 1995--Attachmate(R) Corp. today announced the shipment of CROSSTALK(R) for Macintosh(R) version 3.0 featuring full support for the Power Mac(TM), Apple(R) System 7.5, and the popular TCP/IP protocol.

According to Adam Hannah, vice president of open systems products, "Attachmate continues to lead the market in asynchronous communications software. The newest release of CROSSTALK for Macintosh allows our customers to realize the benefits of Apple's latest technological enhancements, including Power Mac and System 7.5, providing them with an unparalleled combination of ease of use, versatility, and high performance in Macintosh connectivity software."

CROSSTALK for Macintosh 3.0 has been accelerated for Power Macintosh and now provides 5 to 10 times better performance on Apple's latest models. Full support of Apple System 7.5 enables CROSSTALK to take advantage of numerous features including drag-and-drop and AppleScript(R).

Drag-and-drop can be used to upload or download text or files simply by dragging and dropping them onto CROSSTALK. Through AppleScript, users can automate routine functions like a CompuServe upload that usually involves many command sequences.

This new version also supports the popular TCP/IP protocol for access to many on-line services, networks and host computers. MacTCP is included for those users with system software prior to System 7.5. CROSSTALK for Macintosh ships with the necessary tools to access virtually any environment. These tools include Apple Modem Tool, Serial Tool, and the TCP/IP Tool.

These new features combine with CROSSTALK's traditional support for more than 20 terminal emulations, 15 file transfer protocols, full Communications Toolbox support, multiple session capability, a powerful scripting language with learn mode, and cross-platform compatibility with CROSSTALK for Windows and CROSSTALK Mark 4 (DOS).

With CROSSTALK for Macintosh, users can be on-line with their favorite service provider (CompuServe, AT&T Mail, Official Airlines Guide, Dow Jones etc.) within minutes of installation. CROSSTALK also supports balloon help and a tool bar for quick access to often used functions.

CROSSTALK for Macintosh is currently available at a suggested retail price of $195. Attachmate will also offer upgrades from previous CROSSTALK versions for an SRP of $49 and competitive upgrades for an SRP of $59.
