The second part (track) of the North Eastern Counties Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held at Gateshead International Stadium on Saturday with the first event scheduled for 11am.

Spectators at the new indoor centre are welcome.

The third fixture of the Start Fitness North Eastern Harrier League takes place at Sunderland on Saturday.

The timing of the races are as usual, with the first event scheduled for 12.30pm and the senior men's at approximately 1.15pm.

The second in the series of Lunch Time Road Races in Saltwell Park is scheduled for Wednesday, January 17 with a 12.30pm start. Further information from Malcolm on (0191) 433 5700.

The next fixture of the Winter Indoor Athletics Grand Prix takes place at Gateshead International Stadium on Thursday, January 18.

A revised programme includes two high jump pools, the first of which will start at 6pm. The pole vault starts at 5.30pm and the first track event is scheduled for 7pm.

The North East Counties Road Relay Championships, for the Royal Signals Trophy, takes place on Saturday, February 10 at Watergate Park, Lobley Hill, Gateshead, starting at 1.30pm.

Gateshead Harriers again host the popular event. Entries close on February 1 and should be sent to: Championship Secretary, D J Parry, Ravensgill Bungalow, Commondale, Whitby YO21 2HG.

The inaugural England Athletics North East Officials Conference will be held at Gateshead International Stadium on Sunday, March 11, starting at 10am and closing at 4.30pm.

The conference will address specific issues across the full range of disciplines from track judging to cross-country officiating.

The conference is free and lunch will be provided.

The 25th running of the Tees Valley Half-Marathon at Redcar takes place on Sunday, March 18 (10.30am).
