At the Movies: Are we Done Yet? (18) Rating: 2/10 Yes, we are!
THINGS get ugly as beleaguered leading man Ice Cube is propelled from one painful slapstick misadventure to the next.
Unfortunately, there is no "pretty' resolution to all of the DIY mishaps and familial disputes, just cloying sentiment and supposedly heartfelt apologies.
The sequel continues the story of Nick Persons (Cube), who used to run a sports memorabilia store but has sold his stake in the business to his buddy so he can launch his own sports magazine.
Nick is now married to the object of his affection, Suzanne (Nia Long).
Cash is tight, and his bachelor pad even tighter, which is hardly conducive to raising a happy family.
The situation becomes critical when Suzanne says she's pregnant again.
And so the Persons reluctantly move to the countryside into a bigger home - five bedrooms, four bathrooms and spectacular views.
Alas, the new property comes with all kinds of renovation issues, which demand Nick's dubious DIY talents.
The final straw comes when it's found that the house has dry rot, as does the movie.
Cube suffers the indignity of his character's accidents with surprisingly good grace, while Long smiles sweetly and the youngsters laugh like demented hyenas.
If only audiences could do the same.
