A romantic evening of traditional classical music and a more contemporary concert of electro- acoustic and sonic-based new works are on the calendar this week at the University of Oregon School of Music and Dance, 961 E. 18th Ave.

A Romantic Evening: Laura Wayte and David Riley

Today, Beall Concert Hall

Faculty members Laura Wayte, voice, and David Riley, piano, will perform at 7:30 p.m. today in Beall Concert Hall.

The program includes songs by Sergei Rachmaninov, Richard Strauss, Gabriel Faure and Franz Schubert, including Schubert's "The Shepherd on the Rock," featuring Jerome Simas on clarinet.

Tickets are $10, $8 for students and senior citizens, at the door or in advance from the UO Ticket Office, 541-346-4363.

Sonic Rain

Sunday, Thelma Schnitzer Hall

Created by professor Jeffrey Stolet in conjunction with the UO's Future Music Oregon studio, the Sonic Rain guest artist series will present electro-acoustic and sonic-based new media works from around the world at 8 p.m. Sunday in Thelma Schnitzer Hall (Room 163) of the Frohnmayer Music Building.

The concert will include works by David Durant, Emilie Payeur, Elsa Justel, Kohsuke Tajima, Elke Swoboda, Hans Tutschku, Seung-Hye Kim, Pierre Blais, Melody E|tv|s and Matthew Dotson.

Tickets are $10, $8 for students and senior citizens, at the door or in advance from the UO Ticket Office, 541-346-4363.
