At Charter Day Celebration: 'Bacolod is now a land of opportunities'.

Bacolod City Mayor Monico O. Puentevella said that Bacolod is now considered as a land of opportunities due to its booming economic growth.

He said this during the 77th Charter Day anniversary celebration held at SMX Convention Centery with television personality Korina Sanchez-Roxas, the better half of Liberal Party standard bearer Manuel "Mar" Roxas, II.

"To God be the glory. God loves Bacolod so much that despite the intermittent weather condition, the Charter Day parade and MassKara festival streetdance and other events were successfully held. God always spared Bacolod from bad weather conditions and even proved it again when the rains brought about by typhoon Lando had sporadically fell in between major events," he said.

The success of Bacolod is attributed to its people, the present and past leaders and employees including the street cleaners who made our streets clean immediately after the MassKara events.

Moreover, Korina Sanchez-Roxas has expressed the warm greetings of her husband Mar Roxas to all the people of Bacolod in celebration of the MassKara festival and Charter Day anniversary.

"You are always on his mind because he loves you. I am a No. 1 fan of my husband and I was tasked to come here to represent him. He was in Nueva Ecija and the Cordilleras which was badly hit by typhoon Lando. My husband said that Negrenses and Bacolodnons know how to discern who are truthful about change. Somebody who really know the right path and direction for this country," she said.

Roxas also lauded the achievement of Bacolod City in terms of the Business Process outsourcing (BPO) industry which has been his pet program when he was Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry.

Bacolod got a share in the 1.1 million BPO workforce and the $18.4 billion investment.

"If you will equate the 77 years of Bacolod's existence to an individual, Bacolod is already a senior citizen who reminisces memories and relaxes. But as a city, it is among the top outstanding BPOs in the country. Bacolod has more reason to celebrate. The Negros Island Region is a testament that the government has listened to its people. There are 11,000 families who are recipients of the 4-Ps," she said.
