Asylum rules just loony.

Byline: Carol McGiffin

IT'S very sad that Yashika Bageerathi had to be deported to Mauritius this week, without her family and two months away from completing her A-levels.

The family arrived here in 2011 but claimed asylum only last year, saying they were fleeing an abusive relative. According to our immigration laws, there was no valid reason for her to remain.

Proving that when it comes to UK Immigration, rules is rules.

Unless you're a Muslim preacher with links to al-Qaeda.

In which case, legal aid lawyers will challenge your deportation for years to protect your human rights. Just like they did before we got rid of Abu Qatada.
