Associated Importers plans its 1990 strategies at annual meeting.
Associated Importers held its annual national sales meeting at the Scottsdale Princess Resort on January 24-28; the meeting coincided with St. Pauli Girl's co-sponsorship of the 1990 Phoenix Golf Open.
Led by president Leo Begleiter, the national meeting brought together Associated's marketing operations and sales force who discussed 1990 marketing objectives and strategies for its brands.
During the series of meetings, Associated outlined a strong commitment to its brands in terms of marketing, advertising and public support which will reinforce the brands throughout the year.
According to Begleiter, this will be an active one for all of the Associated brands.
"We'll be continuing with our successful national advertising campaign for St. Pauli Girl and launching a new ad campaign to support Suntory," Begleiter said. "We'll also be initiating a number of exciting promotions that will keep our brand names - St. Pauli Girl, Suntory, John Bull and Double Diamond - out in front on a year-round basis.
For St. Pauli Girl, Associated plans to implement a number of promotions that play on successful 1989 campaigns, including its "Best Opening Lines" program and the St. Pauli Girl "Poster Girl" campaign. In addition, the brand will be bringing back its popular Octoberfest program and continuing to use the St. Pauli Girl as a symbol for the brand.
Besides introducing a new advertising campaign for Suntory Beer, Associated will implement two existing national consumer sweepstakes, year-round, on-premise promotion and an off-premise campaign designed to create a strong presence for the brand.
Associated will support its British brands of Double Diamond and John Bull through a year-long publicity campaign. John Bull will also be supported by advertising in select markets and on-and off-premise promotions tied to the "Bull" name and the brand's British origins, Begleiter said.
