Assabet Valley Regional hosts Military Awareness Assembly.

MARLBORO -- In a display of patriotism and gratitude, Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School recently hosted a Military Awareness Assembly, with guests and speakers from several branches of the military, as well as Lt. Gov.-elect Karyn Polito, state Rep. Danielle Gregoire, and Mayor Arthur Vigeant. Assabet's Marine Corps JROTC cadets presented the colors, and the program was officially commissioned. Mjr. Schafer, director, Region One MCJROTC, presented the charter to Chief Warrant Officer 3 Randolph P. Mann, Assabet's JROTC instructor.

Later that evening, as tradition dictates, the JROTC program celebrated the 239th birthday of the Marine Corps with a Marine Ball, replete with a very large birthday cake. Following the ceremony, the cadets and their guests, including some parents and honored officers, enjoyed a meal prepared by the school's Culinary Arts department, and then danced to music provided by two of Assabet's student DJs, Patrick Hughes of Clinton and Alex Uliasz of Northboro.
