I am such a bad cook that even when I boil pasta it ends up a sticky, mushy mess! My boyfriend never stops taking the mickey out of me about it. Where am I going wrong? Delilah, by email Hi, Delilah I will bet my bottom dollar you are using a small pan with not enough water in it!

When you add pasta to a small amount of water, it lowers the temperature of the water much more than if you added it to a large amount of water, so the water will take longer to come back to the boil.

In the meantime, the pasta will sit at the bottom of the pot and start to clump up and become mushy. Read my cooking tip below on how to get it right. And, Delilah, why not tell your fella to cook it himself? Love, Nads x
